Ages & Stages

Infants (3-18mos)

The focus in our infant room is on getting each little one really comfortable in their new environment. The transition from home to daycare is a big one – for kids and parents alike. To ensure we have lots of time for the cuddles and hugs these children need, we exceed required teacher-to-child ratios and have 4 full-time teachers in each infant class of 10 children. Our infant classrooms have all the safe and fun toys the children are used to at home, plus are provided with lots of opportunities to engage in new experiences both in the class and outside. We believe that fresh air and exposure to new environments is very important for all children, including our littlest ones so they get time in the yard and we take them out for neighbourhood walks, whether they are in the stroller or perfecting their walking technique holding our hands.

Toddlers (19-30mos)

Toddlers are busy, busy, busy! For this reason we like to keep our toddler groups small so each class has 10 children and 2 teachers. At this stage the kids start to learn more independence and also thrive on the class’s daily routine. Many children exhibit a language explosion at this time using many new words every day. This is very exciting for the parents, kids and teachers alike. We never tire of the thrill of seeing a baby develop into a little person. They are starting to listen well and are also starting to be able to effectively participate in group activities. We help the kids at this stage not just experience the wonders of the environment around them, but to interact and manipulate it in a safe yet exciting way. Of course, they also love to burn off some extra energy playing outside.

Pre-School (30-48mos)

This class focuses on preparing kids for Kindergarten, both academically and socially while holding onto all of the fun of being in Pre-School. Turn-taking and rule following is now a regular part of their repertoire. They are delightfully social little creatures learning the highs and lows that come with first friendships. They have terrific ideas of their own that we try to incorporate into our programming as much as possible.
